There are several types of lenses available for your CO2 laser machine. At leapion laser, we are dealers of lenses of the finest quality and at the lowest price; we leave aside the cheapest lenses that, instead of offering advantages, can end up creating problems for your equipment when it comes to cutting or engraving, in addition to their shorter life.

What lens is better fit for each form of job?

There are several types of laser lenses on the market, the optimal focal length for each lens is different.

  Lens 1.5′′

This lens size is suitable for high resolution engraving. Recommended for engraving small letters or small details. Produces a laser beam of between 0.0762 and 0.1651 mm. suitable for cutting surfaces of less than 1.8 mm thickness.

  Lens 2"

It's the standard lens on most laser machines. It produces a laser beam between 0.1 and 0.18 mm, recommended for cutting and engraving between 300 and 600 dpi.

  Lens 4"

This lens creates a more centered cut at a higher vertical distance. Recommended for engraving on bent materials and cutting thicker materials.

How long is the life of the CO2 laser lens?

The life of your lens can vary significantly, as there are several factors that can lengthen or shorten its life, such as upkeep and proper use, putting these factors aside, the nature of the lens you purchase directly affects its longevity.

The USA ZnSe lens should give us a longevity of approximately 6 to 9 months, based on our consumer experience, but let's go step by step, first of all:

What does ZnSe mean by that?

ZnSe is short for Zinc Selenide and is the ideal substrate for laser coating and other optical lenses owing to the high transmission of infrared light relative to standard glass.

ZnSe lenses are extremely sensitive, and any dirt or oil on the skin can seriously contaminate them, which can lead to compromised results.

For this, it's really important to wear finger covers, or even better rubber gloves, because this way you've got your hands fully shielded and it'll be easier to manipulate the lens without damaging it.

Finally, we suggest that you keep the lens clean and use it with the correct equipment to extend its lifetime.
