Inquire

In the mid-1990s, lasers were used in the shipbuilding industry as a heavy industry manufacturing tool. In recent years, the power of lasers has continued to increase, and laser cutting, welding, and cleaning processes have begun to ban some old processes, which have a certain impact on the entire shipbuilding industry. Today Leapion Laser shares the application of laser welding machines in the shipbuilding industry.

In shipbuilding, most of the processed materials are 3~12mm thick plates. The main problems faced in traditional shipbuilding methods are:

1. These plate welded parts are warped and deformed due to the large heat input during the welding process.

2. When building the ship hull, about 25% of the workload is to reshape and flatten the ship plate to achieve the required flatness and curvature, so that the ship plate can be fixed together.

3. In traditional shipbuilding methods, the tolerances of shape and position must be eliminated manually, which consumes a lot of labor costs.

Compared with the traditional welding process, the laser welding process has many advantages:

1. The main advantage of laser welding technology used in shipbuilding is low distortion. At present, sandwich panels, angle profiles, T profiles, cross profiles, and butt welded ship plates for laser welding structures have been widely used.

2. When the ship is fully welded, the laser welding process can not only weld the same material, but also weld materials of different thicknesses. for example:

In the process of steel plate laser welding, if any defect occurs, it will alarm in time so as to re-weld in time to avoid the phenomenon of strip breakage.

In addition, the on-line inspection of the assembly state before welding and the position of the seam, the stability of the welding process, and the quality of the welding seam after welding, etc., can predict the possible welding defects and the deviation of the seam position.

3. Laser welding of ship plates can greatly shorten the production time.

With the continuous availability of higher-power lasers, the use of laser welding of ship plates, the hull components are well matched, and can be quickly formed into profiles. The length tolerance of the 12m ship plate is within 0.5mm, and there is almost no need to repeat processing, saving a lot of labor.

4. Laser welding can perform more precise and in-depth welding. After the laser is focused, the power density is high. When welding high-power devices, the aspect ratio can reach 5:1, up to 10:1.

5. Laser welding has lower requirements on the welding environment. It does not need to work in a vacuum or rare gas environment. It can be welded at room temperature or under special conditions. The welding equipment is simple.

6. Laser welding is more flexible. It can weld hard-to-reach parts and avoid close contact, so that construction safety is better guaranteed.

It can be seen that laser welding technology has many advantages such as fast welding speed, large depth, and small deformation, so it is very well applied in shipbuilding.
