Stainless steel is widely used in the world today, and the performance-price ratio is quite excellent. In particular, thin-walled stainless steel plates have penetrated into various manufacturing fields. Therefore, the welding of thin-walled stainless steel plates has become an important process in production. So, how to solve the problem of deformation of the laser welding machine welding stainless steel plates? Leapion laser shares are as follows:

First, let's take a look at the welding difficulties of stainless steel sheet:

1. The welding process characteristics of the thin-walled stainless steel plate itself determine the difficulty of its welding. The most difficult problem of the thin-wall stainless steel welding machine is welding penetration and deformation.

2. The stainless steel sheet has a low degree of restraint, and is subjected to local heating and cooling during the welding process, resulting in uneven heating and cooling. The weldment will produce uneven stress and strain, and the longitudinal shortening of the weld will exert pressure on the edge of the sheet. When it exceeds a certain value, serious wave-like deformation will occur, which will affect the shape quality of the workpiece.

Reasons for laser welding deformation of stainless steel plate:

1. Welding current

As the welding current increases, the width of the weld will increase, and phenomena such as spatter will gradually appear, resulting in oxidation, deformation, and roughness on the weld surface.

2. Pulse width

When the pulse width increases, the strength of the welded joint increases, and when the pulse width reaches a certain level, the heat conduction energy consumption on the surface of the material also increases. Evaporation causes liquid to splash out of the molten pool, resulting in a smaller cross-sectional area of the welded joint and affecting the strength of the joint.

3. Welding frequency

The influence of welding frequency on the deformation of stainless steel welding is closely related to the thickness of the steel plate. For example, for a 0.5mm stainless steel plate, when the frequency reaches 2Hz, the welding overlap rate is very high;

But when the frequency reaches 5Hz, the weld will burn severely and the heat-affected zone will be wide, resulting in deformation.

The main methods to solve the problem of burn-through and deformation during laser welding of thin stainless steel plates are as follows:

1. Strictly control the amount of heat input on the welding head, select the appropriate welding method and process parameters (mainly welding current, arc voltage, welding speed);

2. Strive to be accurate in the assembly dimensions, and the interface gap should be as small as possible. If the gap is larger, it is easy to burn through, or form a larger welding bead;

3. Hardcover fixtures must be used, and the clamping force is evenly balanced. The key to welding stainless steel sheets is to strictly control the heat input on the welding head of the laser welding machine, and strive to reduce the heat input as much as possible on the premise that the welding can be completed, thereby reducing the heat affected zone and avoiding the above defects.

Stainless steel sheet welding uses continuous laser welding machine, low-power pulsed laser seam welding has the advantages of high power density, energy concentration, small heat input, narrow weld seam and small deformation.
