Description

Acrylic sheets are usually produced using either a continuous casting process or an extrusion process. The extrusion process is quicker and cheaper, but the resulting acrylic breaks easily in terms of efficiency. At Leapion laser, we use acrylic sheets that have been processed using a continuous casting method. Take a look at some of the advantages of Continuous Cast Acrylic (CCA):

Transparency – CCA sheets are manufactured using the same method used to produce glass sheets, offering excellent optical clarity and high transparency.

Strength – CCA is simpler to ship and handle because of its strength compared to other acrylic manufacturing methods.

However, CCA may have some problems with thickness control, as it may have thickness variations of up to 20%.

This material has a smooth, glossy surface and varies between non-transparent and moderately opaque. For more details, please refer to our paragraph on acrylic finishes and colors.

Please note that the laser cuts the plastic under a slight angle that can be seen on thicker sections.

Applications

Acrylic is a material that has many advantages, both in terms of ease of use and longevity. The technical properties of Acrylic can differ depending on the thickness but remain very stable in terms of shrinkage and tolerance. Our Acrylic material can be illuminated when exposed to LED lights and is very resistant to cracking and cracking. When cutting, Acrylic is not deformed and its smooth surface allows the ideal cutting to be easily accomplished. In addition, it can be decorated, glued, illuminated, it is also a BPA-free material that is also weatherproof. The continuous casting of acrylic is used for thousands of items, due to its high quality, exceptional clarity,

Fast processing and modular design. From screens to signs, medical equipment, lighting, electronics and hundreds of other applications.

All acrylics are waterproof, i.e. they are moisture resistant and can be used in kitchens, bathrooms.

Acrylic is really easy to maintain. Simply use a mild soap and lukewarm water mixture with a clean soft cloth to clean your acrylic laser cut or laser etched bits, do not use a cleaning mist. It is also advised to avoid rough cloths, sponges, thinner lacquer and aggressive cleaning materials.

Prices

Your laser cutting and engraving price is automatically determined when you place your vector file online on our website. It is measured interactively and depends on a variety of variables, such as the amount of material used, the time the machine takes to cut or engrave, and the cost of logistics. You will see it changing in real time when you make changes to your vector file. You just need to log in and upload your vector file to get the price of your item in just a few clicks.

Delivery time is applied to the laser cutting and printing time and depends on the type of delivery you select.

        Process

        Laser Cutting:

acrylic Laser Cutting

Laser Cutting is a digital subtractive manufacturing technique that consists of cutting or engraving a material using a laser. Laser cutting may be applied to a variety of materials, such as plastic, wood, cardboard, etc. The method involves cutting materials using a strong and highly precise laser that focuses on a specific area of the material. High power density results in rapid heating, melting and partial or full vaporization of the substance. Typically, the device guides the high-power laser to the material and tracks the direction.

Laser engraving:

acrylic Laser Cutting

Laser Engraving (or Laser Etching) is a subtractive method of manufacture that uses a laser beam to alter the surface of an object. This method is often used to produce images on the content that can be seen at eye level. To do so, the laser produces high heat that vaporizes the matter, thereby revealing the cavities that form the final picture. This method is fast, as each pulse of the laser eliminates the material. It can be used on almost any form of metal, plastic, wood, leather or glass surface. As a special note for our transparent acrylic, when you print your bits, you must be sure to mirror the image so that the image appears accurately when you look at your part head-on.

Finishes

Acrylic is a substance that lends itself to various forms of activity. Although it is true that Acrylic can be painted and glued (which we will discuss in this section) please be aware that it can also be sawed, drilled, drilled, decorated, silk-screened and molded. For bonding, you want to use a solvent-based glue that softens the surface of the acrylic as it welds the pieces together, chemically bonding the two parts into one.

For painting, it is recommended to first print the piece and then use spray paint on the acrylic pieces. When painting, try not to over-apply the paint, even with a thin coat, there will be no strokes or drips.
