As we all know, laser welding has many advantages due to its high aspect ratio, small weld width, small heat affected zone, small deformation, and fast welding speed. With the development of laser types, laser sources have higher power, different wavelengths and a wider range of pulse capabilities. Fiber laser welding machines have also been successfully applied to various industries. Today Leapion Laser specifically shares as follows:

1. Fiber laser welding technology is used for precision machining and welding

Seals used in ships and chemical refineries, as well as in the pharmaceutical industry, were originally TIG welded. Because they are used in sensitive environments, these components are precision machined and ground from high-temperature and chemical-resistant nickel-based alloy materials. The batch is usually small and the number of settings is large.

Now, the assembly of these components has been improved using fiber laser welding. Fiber laser welding replaces the earlier robotic arc welding process because it has the following three advantages:

1) The laser welding quality is consistent;

2) The use of fiber laser welding is easy to convert from one component configuration to another component configuration, thereby reducing the set-up time and increasing the output;

3) Reduce costs by automating the laser welding process by assembling laser tracking sensors.

2. Fiber laser welding technology is used for airtight welding

The hermetic sealing of electronic products in medical equipment (such as pacemakers and other electronic products) has enabled fiber laser welding technology.

In the previous laser welding technology, when the laser beam is turned off, even when the laser power is reduced, a dent will be generated at the end point.

However, advanced laser beam control directly eliminates dents in thin welds and deep welds. The weld seam is consistent, the end point is also free of porosity, and the sealing is more reliable.

3. Fiber laser welding technology is used for aerospace welding

Fiber laser welding of nickel and titanium-based aerospace alloys requires control of weld geometry and weld microstructure, including minimizing porosity and controlling grain size.

In many aerospace applications, the fatigue performance of welds is a key design criterion. Therefore, design engineers almost always specify that the welding surface is convex or slightly convex to enhance the welding strength.

To this end, filling lines with a diameter of 1.2 mm are used for automated processes. Adding filler wire to the butt joint will result in consistent weld crowns on the top and bottom bead. By ensuring a good microstructure of the weld, the choice of wire alloy also contributes to the mechanical properties of the weld.

With the development of fiber laser welding technology, the application of new products is increasing. In addition to the above three categories, fiber laser welding technology is used in electronic packaging, medical equipment, automobiles, airplanes, and process equipment and sensors. It has been repeatedly proven that the cost, quality and performance of new product designs can be significantly improved.
