Nowadays, laser cutting machines have been widely used in various industries due to their good processing effects and high work efficiency. However, burrs sometimes appear in the process of laser cutting. Today, Leapion Laser shares the reasons for burrs in laser cutting and how to solve this problem.

Burrs are actually excessive residue particles on the surface of metal materials. The burrs produced by laser cutting are small sharp corners that will appear uneven on the surface. The cutting of industrial parts requires neatness and precision, but the appearance of burrs will seriously affect the use and beauty of the parts.

So, why do burrs appear during the laser cutting process? How to solve this problem? We can check from the following points:

Reason 1: The laser focus position is wrong

The upper and lower positions of the laser beam focus generated by the laser cutting machine are deviated, resulting in that the energy is not precisely concentrated on the workpiece, and the workpiece is not fully vaporized, which increases the amount of slag produced, which is not easy to blow off, so that burrs are more likely to occur.

Solution: It is necessary to do a focus position test to adjust the position of the laser beam focus, and adjust it to the best state according to the offset position generated by it.

Reason 2: The laser output power is not enough

The output power of the laser cutting machine is not enough to effectively vaporize the metal, resulting in excessive slag and burrs.

Solution: Check whether the laser cutting machine is working normally. If it is not normal, it needs to be repaired and maintained in time; if it is normal, check whether the output value is correct and make corresponding adjustments.

Reason 3: Cutting speed problem

The cutting line speed of the laser cutting machine is too slow, which destroys the surface quality of the cutting surface and produces burrs.

Solution: adjust and increase the cutting line speed in time to make it reach the normal value.

Reason four: auxiliary gas problem

The purity of the auxiliary gas of the laser cutting machine does not meet the required standard, or the gas pressure is too small and the flow rate is insufficient, which will cause burrs on the workpiece.

Solution: Replace the auxiliary gas with a higher purity.

Reason 5: Working hours are too long

The working time of the laser cutting machine is too long, which makes the equipment in an unstable working state, which will also lead to the generation of burrs.

Solution: Turn off the laser cutting machine, restart it after a period of time, and make it fully rest.

In fact, in the process of sheet metal processing, the parameter settings of the laser cutting machine, gas purity, etc. will affect the processing quality. Use suitable and qualified gas, deploy the machine, and adjust the parameters, and the workpiece will be cut without burrs.
