The laser cutting machine uses a high-energy laser beam to irradiate the workpiece to be processed, so that the temperature of the irradiated surface of the workpiece rises rapidly and is in a molten state, and then the auxiliary gas is used to blow off the slag to achieve the purpose of cutting.

However, sometimes the slag cannot be blown off, especially in the process of laser processing thick plate perforation, there is a phenomenon of slag accumulation. If it is cut directly, it will lead to problems such as poor cutting quality and rough cutting section.

So, what is the reason why the laser-cut slag cannot be blown off? How to solve this problem?

1. The thickness of the plate exceeds the maximum limit value of cutting, so that the slag cannot be blown off

Because the temperature of the slag produced by laser cutting machining is very high, usually above 1700 degrees, and the boiling and convection of the slag bring a lot of oxygen into the lower part of the reaction zone, so that the metal in the lower layer is also continuously added to the combustion reaction. However, the lower the metal in the lower layer has, the less chance it has in contact with oxygen. There is basically no combustion reaction for the metal at the bottom layer. It is mainly melted by the heat generated by the combustion reaction, but it cannot reach a completely melted state. No matter how high the air pressure is, the attached slag cannot be blown off.

Solution: Intelligently match cutting parameters according to different materials and thicknesses, and do not overload the laser cutting machine.

2. The air pressure of the auxiliary gas is too low

Because the adhesion of the slag is relatively strong, if the pressure of the auxiliary gas does not reach the standard value, the attached slag is difficult to blow off.

Solution: Adjust the air pressure of the auxiliary gas.

3. The output power is too low

Due to the insufficient output power of the laser cutting machine, the metal cannot be effectively vaporized, resulting in excessive slag and burrs.

Solution: Check whether the laser cutting machine is working normally. If it is not normal, it needs to be repaired and maintained in time; if it is normal, it is also necessary to check whether the output value is correct.

Laser cutting machine has become the standard equipment for sheet metal processing due to its high processing efficiency and good quality of finished products. If it is improperly operated during use, it will cause a lot of economic losses.
