1. Air

Advantages: The air cost is low. When using air, only the electricity cost of the air compressor and the equipment itself needs to be considered, eliminating the high cost of auxiliary gas. The cutting efficiency on thin plates can be compared with nitrogen cutting, and it is an economical and efficient cutting method.

Disadvantages: 1) The cut surface will produce burrs, which require secondary processing to clean up, which is not conducive to the entire product production cycle.

2) The cut surface will be black and yellow, but the cutting efficiency is far inferior to oxygen, which affects the quality of the product.

2. Oxygen

Oxygen has a strong combustion-supporting effect, so it can speed up laser cutting. Oxygen cutting is the most common and traditional cutting method.

Advantages: The advantage of oxygen cutting is mainly reflected in the cost of gas. In sheet metal processing based on carbon steel, there is no need to frequently replace auxiliary gas, which increases cutting efficiency and facilitates management.

Disadvantages: After oxygen cutting, there will be a layer of oxide film on the surface of the cut surface. If the product with oxide film is directly welded, the oxide film will naturally peel off after a long time, and the product will form a virtual weld. , Affect welding quality.

3. Nitrogen

When oxygen is used as an auxiliary gas, an oxide film will be formed on the cutting surface. Using nitrogen can prevent the appearance of the oxide film and form a non-oxidized cutting. The non-oxidized cutting surface can be welded, sprayed, and has the characteristics of strong corrosion resistance. The surface of the non-oxidized cutting is generally white, which can be directly processed by welding, spraying, etc. The characteristics of strong corrosion resistance also make its application range very wide.

1. When cutting thick carbon steel plates over 6mm, only oxygen cutting is supported.

2. When cutting below 6mm, if there is a clear requirement on the cutting quality and accuracy, it is recommended to use nitrogen cutting. The cutting efficiency is high and the next processing step can be directly carried out. The slow oxygen cutting speed is not recommended.

3. When cutting below 6mm, if only cutting is considered or there is no clear process requirement, air cutting is recommended, with zero gas cost.

No matter what type of auxiliary gas is selected, pressure adjustment is very important. When cutting at the proper air pressure, it will greatly improve the cutting efficiency and cutting quality. On the contrary, if the air pressure is too high, it will slow down the cutting speed. If the air pressure is too small, the workpiece will not be cleaned well, causing damage to the lens by the slag.
